State ensemble of soloists /"Art cinema/

The “Art-Cinema” Ensemble was officially formed in 2010 by Ashot Khoyetsyan, who also acts as the first violinist of the band. Regarded as one of the most unique chamber ensembles in Armenia as well as in number of CIS and European countries, the “Art-Cinema Ensemble” – Ashot Khoyetsyan and  Hayk Vardanyan (violins), Levon Arakelyan (cello) and Karen Sarafyan (piano) – has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers. Performing over a 10-15 concerts in Armenia and in number of other countries each year, the ensemble has earned a reputation of first-class performer of cinema music soundtracks, as well as classical pieces, written by Beethoven, Barber and number of other renowned composers. Its interpretations are celebrated for their intensity and focus, listing over 150 well known Armenian and worldwide known cinema soundtracks. A great number of the pieces performed by the “Art Cinema” are exclusively arranged for the ensemble by Ashot Khoyetsyan –the Artistic Director and the first violin of the Ensemble.

Thanks to its unique repertoire which gained them devoted following as in Armenia so abroad, “Art Cinema Ensemble” has been featured on numerous television and radio programs in Armenia as well as in Germany, Beirut and Russia. The ensemble has also brought its participation to “Arm” Cultural Expo, Golden Apricot and to numerous international cinema festivals taking place in Armenia. Some of the Ensemble’s projects have drawn the attention and the appreciation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia as well as the Ministry of Diaspora of RA, as a result gaining them a long-lasting collaboration with the aforementioned Ministries and opening new prospects for the musicians of the ensemble.

Deeply committed to coaching young professionals, the ensemble musicians conducted master classes as in Armenia so in number of Middle Eastern countries.

 

 

 

Ashot  Khoetsyan

Artistic Director and Principal Conductor

 

In 2010 he founded the “Art Cinema” ensemble. He is also the first violinist there. He has developed and transported about 150 film soundtracks for the ensemble. The ensemble has performed numerous concerts in Armenia and abroad.

From 2003 to present he is working in symphonic orchestra of National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan. Since 2015 he is the concertmaster of the orchestra.

He studied and graduated from Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas, H. Smbatyan’s class, in the meanwhile studying in E. Mirzoyan’s composition class.

He cooperated with many musicians; among them are Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, Valery Gergiev, Tugan Sokhiev, Tigran Mansouryan, Robert Amirkhanyan, Konstantin Orbelyan, Gegham Grigoryan and others. 

2006-2011  worked in “Kadance” ensemble and participated in multiple concerts in Armenia, USA, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, Spain, Greece, Great Britain, Ukraine, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, Qatar, Arab Emirates etc.

 

Hayk Vardanyan

                                                                              Director of Ensemble 

From 2010 to present he is one of the founders of Art Cinema Ensemble, the Director of the Ensemble and the second violinist. 

He performed numerous concerts both as a soloist and as an ensemblist.

He cooperated with many collective bands of Armenia, as well as of foreign countries working also as a concertmaster.

He is working in symphonic orchestra of National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan. From 2011-as the vice concertmaster of the orchestra and since 2015 is the concertmaster of first violinists’ group of the orchestra. 

He participated in a number of festivals. Among them was Moscow's Easter Festival held under the direction of conductor Valery Gergiev in 2005 where he presented Armenia.

He had multiple concerts in Russia, Germany, Spain, Greece, Great Britain, Ukraine, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, Qatar, Arab Emirates etc.
